Bye Bye June

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I’ve posted new pictures on my progression page.

June was a fairly routine month. Which is also why I haven’t made any posts here.

My aim for July is to be very goal focused. I’m not going to make many of them, so that I can really focus.

June Goals

Get to 280 lbs - Didn’t do this, but I think its because I gained a bit more muscle.

Time my mile jog and get to 12 minutes if its longer - I’m no where near this. I think I need to lose a bit more so the strain on my legs isn’t so bad. I’ll give this another go in a couple months.

Be able to do 10 military push-ups - Done

Start working on pull/chin ups - I did this a little. Not able to get near doing any.

Stay smoke and soda free - 6+ months and still going good.

July Goals

Get to 265 lbs

Get a Job

May is over, time for an update

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The month of may is over. It was a good month in many ways. I’ve taken some fairly big steps in improving myself and doing things I’ve always meant to do. I’m currently enrolled to attend a technical college in the fall. Its looking good, and it looks like with financial aid I’ll be able to cover most the cost of attending.

As usual for my progression posts, I’ve posted new pictures of myself on my progression page. You can find the link on the right under “navigation”. I posted a disclaimer, but I’ll say it again here. I don’t dress up for my photos. You get me how I am that day.

My ankle is doing much better. I’ll always have pain there, I have for years, but as I lose weight, it gets better. I was told by my brother that I limp much less now then I used to. Which I never did much to begin, but even less is good. I feel a lot more “fit” then I have in the past. I enjoy doing my cardio, working up a sweat. I kinda feel like a new person in that regard. I used to despise that “work out” feeling.

I’ve started doing some HIIT on the exercise bike. I like it I think, and I’d like to incorporate some running/sprinting HIIT in the future. Just something to work towards.

So goals…

May Goals

Get to 295 lbs, losing my 2nd 10% of my body weight - I got to 298, close, but not quite. Still good though.

Be able to jog 1 mile - Did this one. Well before the end of the month.

Incorporate some stretching/yoga into my weekly routine - I’ve been stretching more, but no Yoga.

Do more body weight training - I’ve been doing push-ups and planks mostly

Stay smoke and soda free - Done and Done

End of month update

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I’ve updated my progression page with new pictures from today. Something I noticed, my cloths are getting extremely large on me. They look super baggy. Going to have to break out some older clothing soon it looks like. That’s a good thing though, it means I’m moving ahead.

I’m not sure what I did to my ankle last week. Its kinda irritating though. Its not my normal ankle pain, I get a kind of pain in the back of it and it feels kinda like its grinding when I move it. Like something is moving up and down. Hopefully it gets better quickly, I think its improved some, but its stopping me from walking and jogging because I’m afraid I’ll hurt it more. Instead I’ve been doing my cardio on the exercise bike. Which is now down with all the other equipment since we straightened up our basement.

Now lets see how I did on my goals for this month.

April Goals

Get a job – I put in at least 2 applications every week. Nothing much came of it, although I do have an interview today. If I get hired, then I’ll update and call this one successful.

Get to under 300 lbs — I got to 310 lbs. I did not achieve this goal, but I knew it wasn’t going to be easy to begin with. Having my plateau and my few slip up days in the middle of the month are what did it I think.

Get up to 2.5 miles in an hour on the treadmill — I can do this, and started jogging some as well.

Continue to weight train and work out – I weight trained 3 days a week, and worked out every day except for my one day of failure.

Continue to stay smoke and soda free – I did not touch a cigarette or soda all month long

On to this months goals

So much water

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I’m sick of water. So I spent all of Wed night keeping the basement from flooding. Sucking up water with a shop vac and then emptying it into the sink down there. Stupid sump pump. It was fixed by 7 AM, but I had a joyful 6 hours lifting 2 full vacs full of water every 15 minutes. Each weighing about 80 lbs.

So I didn’t really “work out” on Thursday. I figure all the lifting and so forth was more then enough. I also didn’t do any weight training today.

On top of it, we had to move a bunch of stuff around, so I don’t currently have access to the treadmill. I didn’t want to skip two days of my cardio, so I went for a walk. It was raining when I left, though it did stop and the sun even came out for a short bit.

I walked about 3.25 miles. I’m not sure exactly how long it took me. That wasn’t my concern. I just knew I wanted to get some cardio of some kind in. I’m sore, but it felt good to get out. I think I’ll make a habit of walking outside a bit more instead of being cooped up in the basement.

I also think I’m going to have to start eating a bit less during my dinner meal. I know I’m not going over on calories, but I’ll eat, and I feel very full for hours. Like I ate a bit too much. Maybe I’ll just try to eat slower so I feel more full quicker. I eat pretty fast, habit from when I worked in fast food (wanted to get done super fast to have time to smoke a couple cigs during my break). Either way, I don’t like feeling like I’m stuffed. Will have to work more on not letting that happen.
